Dinner with old friends, Thai massages, & cooking Thai food

Two days ago got dinner with Brenden and Becca, their three kids, and their nanny. Brenden is a Chris’ friend from high school and college; we had a great time catching up and it was great to meet the rest of the family. They are in Thailand doing relief work.

Yesterday we took a cooking class on Thai food. The class learned how to make a curry paste, the associated curry, a stir-fry, a soup, an appetizer, and a dessert. We made 14 different dishes (7 each). Chris’ favorite was the red curry paste and meg loved the mango and sticky rice as well as the pad thai. Meg is trying to eat a mango per day! It was great to go through all the foods and they seem much easier to make.

Afterward we got Traditional Thai massages. It was very relaxing but different then a western massage. It focuses on pressure points, energy meridian work and yoga stretching. At times it was a bit painful but overall a relaxing experiemce. We had some food in the night market, including a mango smoothie.
